flower tutorial+some layouts

As promised, here is the flower tutorial:
First, gather your supplies. You need some liquid glue, a button or other flower center, 3 strips of patterned paper cut to .5x4 inches, and 3 strips of patterned paper cut to .75x4.5 inches.
Lightly fold the strips of patterned paper in half.
On the side you do not want showing, add a line of glue in the center of the strip.
Fold both ends in the the center fold line and press down for a couple seconds to make sure the glue sets.
Do this with all of the strips.
Add a dot of glue on the seam of one of the wider strips and then place another strip seam side down to make an x.
Place another dot of glue in the center of the x and place the remaining strip down the center of the x.
Repeat with the skinner strips, but layer them so that the ends go between the ends of the wider strips.
Add a button or something for the flower center and you have a homemade embellishment!! Of course you can adjust the length/width of the strips to change the size of the flower, or even add more layers. It would even be fun to punch the edges with a border punch:)

And I have a couple layouts to share...one I did last night and the other I did before we went out of town last week.
I used the March My Scrapbook Nook kit for this one. So many yummy goodies in that kit;)
The little star design on the green border sticker totally inspired me to use a similar stitch on my layout:)

I used some Lily Bee Catching Fall for this one.
I sprayed the bookprint patterned paper with white Mr. Huey's mist so the background would be more muted.
I don't know if it was the mist or what, but the rub-on here didn't transfer very cleanly. I kinda like it that way for this page and on the bookprint paper though:)
Hope everyone's week is going well so far!!

weekend snaps

We took this on St. Patrick's Day (after I had made my blog post!) by setting the camera on one of the shelves on our living room (I might have missed the chance if I would've set up the tripod!).
When we were loading up the car to head to Tallahassee this weekend, I took out the extra booster seat and Kieran kept sitting in it saying "ma-mew" (Matthew-the boy we carpool with).
Saturday A and I went to a birthday party-look at that dress up stuff-a little girl's dream right? The party was so cute! After we left, we got Shaun and the three of us did some shopping and grabbed a quick snack while Kieran was at my Mom's. It was good for A to have one on one time with us, but she said she missed Kieran, lol.
Grandma and her grandbabies:) They had so much fun with Grandma and James!!! Shaun and I rented a hotel room. On Friday we went to a wine bar (and drank too much, ugh) and that was fun, then Saturday we went shopping, out to dinner, and saw The Lincoln Lawyer. It was great to have some date time:)
When we got back yesterday afternoon, it was such a lovely day, so we went to the beach.
Do the colors look weird in the 2 above pictures? I used the white in his shorts to adjust the white balance, but in the ones below I used the white in the waves.
She had so much fun in the water. It is so crazy to think about 2 summers ago when she was scared of the water! Now she wants to go in so bad, she insists it is not too cold to swim in...even though I totally think it is;)

He was content with this bucket of water...sprinkling sand into it and stirring it around:)

A lady offered to take a picture of the 4 of us:)
Aislynn is on spring break this week, and we are staying here. So more beach pictures to come:)
Hope everyone had a fantastic, weekend filled with sunshine!!!

creative scrappers sketch #148

Today is the sketch #148 reveal. I love loved this sketch because of the small pictures and the circles! In the end, I used a square instead of the big circle in the sketch, and I added a few little circles, but I think you can clearly see the inspiration from the sketch for the layout I created.
Here is the sketch:
and here is my take:
 The Perfect Tree
and some close up shots:

Make sure you check out the other creative team member's takes HERE (I LOVE the different takes on the sketch!!!) and if you decide to play along, make sure you link your page by March 31st for a chance to win a prize from this month's sponsor, Loonie 4 Scrapbooking.

latest pages

Here are the latest pages/cards I have made:
I made this using the Echo Park Sweet Summertime line and this card was actually picked as Echo Park's Facebook Fan pick this week:)

used up some fabric scraps here:)
Splash, using Echo Park Springtime. See that far right dot...A spilled her cup and a little drop of milk got on it...I guess I shouldn't leave my pages on the dining room table, but I guess this was the page for this to happen to;)
Some close ups:

The Red Umbrella...using the March My Scrapbook Nook Kit. I haven't even fully gotten in to the kit but it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Full of yummy Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe. I can't wait to play more with it!
Some details...

Warning: A Toddler Lives Here...I used some of the Emergency Vehicle clip art from A Boy's Life for this...

I think the stars from this clip art collection are super versatile!!!
And then a quick card using Echo Park Springtime....kinda diggin' banners lately:) I have another page to share that I did last night with a banner:)
We are off to Tallahassee this weekend and next week is A's spring break, but we are just hanging around here!
Hope every one's weekend is fantastic!!!
