instagram love

Are you familiar with instagram? They finally came out with an app for android phones and I *might* be a tad obsessed;) In fact, I don't even think I have taken any photos with my regular camera since I added this to my phone. It is just too easy to snap a photo and make it look pretty right then;)

I even edited some pictures I took with my camera on my phone, ha!

april nook projects

I have some more projects to share with the April Nook kit. All that is left of my kit now are scraps of paper which I can't bear to part with...
I love this picture from our Savannah trip. We propped the camera on one of the big statues in one of the little squares they have there and used the good old timer feature;) It is out of focus, but I like that we are all looking at the camera and smiling;)

I loved the paper in this kit that had all the tags on one side, I had fun chopping up that sheet of paper:)

I have a couple of cards created for card challenges:
I created this for Jessy's Airmail Inspired challenge.

I created this for Danni's One of a Kind Banner challenge.

I have one more card I created with the kit that will go up on a challenge on Monday...I love love the challenges on the card forum. I know I have said it before, but they are a great way to build up your card stash;)

Lastly, I would like to share a frame I made for the Altered Item Class this month.
I made this for my Mom and James. They watched the kids for us when we were in Savannah and they watched them on Shaun's birthday, so we could have a date, so this is a little thank you for them;) And I bet you think I don't look anything like my Mom, right?! ;)

You can find the step-by-step photo tutorial HERE:)

If you haven't heard...the May kit is going to have Echo Park This and That Graceful in it. The May Grab Bag is now available for purchase and is filled with Echo Park This and That Charming in it:) You can purchase that HERE.

Pam is offering up another great special for new subs in May...sign up for a sub in May and get June's kit AND the June grab bag for free. After your year's sub is up, you will get another kit for free:) Pretty sweet;)

celebrate card

Every month, the Nook design team members makes birthday cards for our wonderful members. I got to make the fabulous Anabelle a card (which I have to say was intimidating because she makes some seriously amazing cards!!), so I pulled out an older Nook kit and came up with this:
Have I mentioned that I heart Crate Paper?!

In other Nook news, the finalists for the DT call were posted on the forum. Congrats ladies!!! Such a talented bunch and I can't wait to see who will be joining the team:)

I had some tags on the Ormolu blog last week and wanted to share them here as well! getaway *edited*

***Edited to add: today is the last day to apply for the Nook design team...check out the details HERE***

I am loving the Nook April kit...loving it. I know I said this, but it is perfect for our Savannah trip pictures! I took this one of Shaun and I (one of my faves!) and scrapped it:
Some detail shots:

I am clueless when it comes to ribbons, and usually have a hard time using the ones I get in kits, but here I glued it under the photo and stitched over the photo to help it lie down more flat. I kinda like it:) I like that the tulle adds a little texture, but it is not overwhelming:)

I made this card for a card sketch challenge on the Nook's card forum:
I will be back tomorrow with some Ormolu projects to share:)

weekend recap

We had such a great weekend! We had Shaun's birthday on Saturday and Easter festivities this morning with the beach in the afternoon.

We started out Friday with dying eggs...
cheers!
Saturday morning, my Mom and James (my step-dad), took the kiddos off to an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party while I got some things ready for Shaun's birthday.
Aislynn and I made little note cards with reasons why we loved Shaun/Daddy and I attached them to balloons (34).  I saw this on pinterest and it sparked this idea;)
Shaun requested a red velvet cake for his birthday and Aislynn insisted we put 34 candles on his cake;)

By the end of the day, about half of the balloons weren't really floating very high (although when we cut the cards off, they went back up), so we decided to release them (latex balloons are biodegradable!).
Aislynn thought this was very cool;)
When they were pretty high in the air, Kieran told us the balloons were dancing:)
We snapped a few pictures and got a typical family photo:
With Grandma and James:)

Shaun and I went out on a date and everyone was tucked in tight by the time we got home. We woke up to some excited kids telling us it was Easter;) They checked out what goodies the Easter Bunny left them (I am sad to say Aislynn told us she didn't believe in him anymore...she said she knew it was us, that she had a hunch, ha! But we are still pretending for K). After finding the eggs the Easter Bunny had hidden (although one is missing-thank goodness it was a plastic egg!), the kids had breakfast:
candy, anyone?

We headed to the beach in the afternoon and it was a beautiful day-the water color was just gorgeous:
Here is A flying her kite..I had to back waaaaay up to get the kite and her in the frame;)
She has named this kite Buttercup the Unicorn;)
oh the life...to have Grandma fill your buckets with water constantly and Mommy bring you juice boxes and crackers while you lounge in your chair on the beach;)
She was happy to swim in the water...I actually went in today. It was pretty cold to me still, but the water was so pretty that I couldn't resist:)
K+Grandma
Grandma built him a little pond for his boat (which he has been asking for awhile now-the Easter Bunny came through today).

Then Grandma built him a pretty cool sand castle:
I just adore weekends like this:)

I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter weekend as well:)

march 2012

I haven't shared photos in a looooong long time, so I put together a little recap of what we did in March(after seeing a similar post by my friend, Deanna)...
from left to right, top to bottom:
1. K before a badly needed haircut
2. A with her rock collection that Grandma and James got her when they went to MOSH (when we were in Savannah)
3. a gallery A made with pictures she and Kieran drew...we are calling this Kieran's circle phase;)
4. this is what happens at the end of every week...a huge laundry mountain
5. soccer, which I am pretty sure A just wants to do to hand with some buddies from school...it is waaaay too funny to watch them in a game;)
 6. our garden is growing, little by little:)
7. I let the kids stay up later one night to have a movie night, but they just couldn't quite make it through the whole movie:)
8. K with one of his bankwees (blanky) and bunny, his own loveys;)
9. A with her loveys, baba and baby sister...she has had them since she was about 9 months old and I love that she still likes them so much:)
10 and 11. beach time!!
12. K with baaaaad allergies...he had this funky rash for about 4-5 days
13. A with her nose in a book...I don't even know how many chapter books she read this month, but a lot. She told me she likes to read so much because she likes imagining what the characters and places look like:) We read Little House in the Big Woods together, a chapter a night...man, I loved those books when I was a kid. It is so neat reading them with my own daughter;)
14. our garden is growing some more, these are bell peppers
15. Saturday morning donuts...what is it about sprinkles? A told me she are so good because they make food fancy.
16. berry picking...it was fun...even if it was Shaun and I picking, K eating strawberries, and A bossing us around telling us which ones to get...we ended up with 14 lbs!
17. pool time...it is still cold to me, but she wants to swim so badly she swears the water isn't cold
18. K and his trains...this is seriously what he does all day. He loves Thomas so so much:)
19. this Easter craft...the kids loved it:)

So there it is! We are looking forward to the weekend with the Easter fun plus Shaun's birthday (which the kids are excited about because that means cake!).  My Mom and James are coming this weekend to spend it with us, so that will be fun also:)

p.s. If you click the collage, it makes it bigger;)

p.p.s. 13 years ago today, Shaun and I went on our very first date:)

more April goodness

When I first knew what the the April Nook kit was going to contain, I knew it would be perfect for some photos of our trip to Savannah. I decided to throw a bunch of my favorite pictures from the trip on one page, as sort of an opener for the other pages that will have more journaling on them;)
I love little pictures:)
I used the alpha from the February kit add-ons.

I also created a card for one of the challenges on the card forums...create a clean and simple card.
I am loving this kit...and with all kits that contain Crate Paper...I always wish I had double the paper so I didn't have to make the agonizing decision of what side to use;)

I will have some more projects with the kit coming up soon:)
Happy Hump Day, friends!!

p.s. The April kit new sub special has changed a bit since the last time I posted, because they ran out of April grab bags!! All new subs starting in April will receive a grab bag filled with October Afternoon goodies, plus receive the May kit for free. After your year is up, you will receive another kit for free;) Sigh up HERE

p.p.s. The winners from the blog hop were announced...were you one?! Check HERE!

it's a fact

that when Shaun and I get our pictures taken together...they inevitably end up goofy:) When we were in Savannah, my sister took some pictures of us and when I saw them on my camera...I knew I had to scrap this:) I made this page for the Ormolu blog a couple of weeks ago:
A detail shot:
I am a bit obsessed with the Fact or Fiction line, it is so versatile! I finally got to break in to my Jillibean Soup Sweet and Sour line also;)
*********
We are back to the routine tomorrow morning. We had a laid back Spring Break, and the week of not having to run around everywhere has me longing for summer days:)

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!!
