my story begins

**The Carta Bella Beautiful Moments giveaway is still open, scroll down**

I have a few projects to share using the Scraptastic "The Story Begins" kit from August. I have had so much fun with this kit, I can't wait to wrap up the project I am currently working on to show you:) It is pretty different from what I normally do;)

Heather is the super talented sketch artist for Scraptastic and she invited us to play along for the monthly sketch challenge. You can see the sketch and what she created with it HERE. I interpreted the sketch a little differently, but I love what I ended up with!
I can't get over how long Miss A's hair looks here:)

Here is a card I created with the kit:
Again, the colors in this kit are just scrumptious, love them so much!

If you haven't already, take a peek at the September Kit sneaks HERE!

three

**Scroll down for the Carta Bella Beautiful Moments giveaway**

Here is a page I created for fun, using some Jillibean Soup collections. I have 4 different ones on here, can you guess which ones?!
One of the things I love the most about Jillibean Soup is that the colors in the different lines coordinate pretty good, so it's easy to mix and match:)

Hard to believe this guy is 3 and that some little miss around here will be 7 next week!

beautiful moments giveaway!

Good morning! I have a couple of last projects to share using the August My Scrapbook Nook kit, featuring the Carta Bella Beautiful Moments line:
I made this one for the August Member Inspiration Sketch challenge. I loved the sketch Nicole created based off of Heather's layout. I didn't have any large sheets of paper left, so I shrunk the sketch down a bit. I pulled the thickers and cling from my stash;)
This card was made based on a card sketch for a challenge on the card forum. I just flipped the diamonds and viola! a clean and simple card:)

********

How would you like to play with some Carta Bella Beautiful Moments? I got my box filled with gorgeousness from Carta Bella last weekend and they were generous enough to include a collection pack for me to giveaway:)

So how about this...leave me a comment by Sunday, September 2nd at 11:59 pm CST and I will randomly pick someone to receive a Beautiful Moments collection pack:)

some cards to share

I wanted to share a few cards I have made recently. As you know, I like making cards, ha!! Sometimes I just want to play and cards are a good way of doing that...I don't have to worry about photos or journaling and such.

Here is a card I created using the American Crafts Gardenia line:
I love the clothespins that came with that line! I like that they have a design on them, it just adds a little bit more pretty;) I added some twine from Ormolu here...the blue was a perfect match.

Here is a birthday card I created using the American Crafts Amy Tangerine Sketchbook line:
The colors in this line are perfect for a happy birthday card:) I used THESE Dear Lizzy stamps to create the banner.

One more card:
This used the Jillibean Soup Sweet and Sour line (my favorite by them, I think?!). One of my favorite things from Jillibean Soup are the little word stickers, they are just perfect little bits to add to cards and layouts;)

That's all for now, it is always fun to add some more cards to my card stash!

more August nook

Thank you all for your sweet comments and messages yesterday, I am very excited!
I would like to share some more projects using the August kit from My Scrapbook Nook (which happens to contain the Carta Bella Beautiful Moments line!):
These are some pictures from when we went to Savannah in February. We were looking for a cool place to have a drink and someone suggested the Bohemian hotel. We headed over and while it was super nice, it was a little fancier then we wanted at that moment (we ended up going to one of the many pubs) but you couldn't resist the views from the roof-top bar. One side over looked the historic downtown and one side overlooked the river, I loved that you could still see so many trees!

I added a few buttons from my stash here, but most everything else is from the kit;)

And another card for a card challenge:
This was for a stamping challenge, and I am so not a stamper;) But I like how this card came out with the sweet birdies:)

Don't forget to join in the card challenges for a chance at a pretty sweet prize;) check them out on the card forum HERE.

august american crafts projects

A quick post before the weekend to share some American Crafts projects...
I used the Shoreline collection for this one. The pictures aren't the greatest since I only had my phone at the beach, but I think you get the idea;) This was one of those pages that I actually had a lot of journaling, but I couldn't figure out where to incorporate it, so I hid it!! The little tab sticking out of the right side picture of A pulls out with a tag attached, which has journaling on it.
This page is one of my favorite pages I have created for American Crafts! I just love the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook line and it works well for many different types of photos. I am not much of a stamper, but I stamped here with the little arrow stamps and then stitched through them (which is really hard to tell in this photo!).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

my lucky charm+news

Remember my Date Night page? My handsome guy must be my lucky charm or something, because I have had wonderful luck with that page;)
The day I uploaded it to the 2Peas gallery, it was the featured layout of the day:
It was also Soup Spotted on the Jillibean Soup blog yesterday;)

Soooooo...news. I am sad to say that as of October 1st, My Scrapbook Nook is closing it's doors. I am sad about this because the community there is amazing. I have met so many sweet and crazy-talented women that I am honored to call my friends. My time there opened up many doors for me in this industry and allowed me to connect with people I may not have ever connected with had it not been for the Nook. There will be one last kit in September, but the August kit is the last kit I am designing with.

Life is funny sometimes. After feeling a bit blue about the news announced at the Nook, I received 2 very happy e-mails. One of them I will have to wait a little bit more to tell you about, but the other I can share now:)

Jessica, the owner of the Scraptastic Kit Club, contacted me and offered me a spot on their design team. I took a look at their kits and their forum and responded with a YES! The kits are pretty awesome, there are 2 to choose from each month (or get both!) and they are a great value. I feel like such a lucky girl, the design team and community has been very welcoming and some of the other new design team members are some dear friends, so YAY!
I am looking forward to this new adventure and making some new friends and hoping old ones come and join us!

more August Nook

I am back with more projects using the August My Scrapbook Nook kit.
First up is a layout created for the Color Challenge I am hosting on the forum.
I have had these pictures for a long time (October 2008) but haven't scrapped them. I love the sun in them and this kit just happened to work perfectly with the colors in the photos.
I grabbed some blank chipboard letters from my stash and misted them with the Studio Calico Warm Calico mist, which was an exact match to the brownish-green in the kit:)

Lots of butterflies on this page:)

The deadline for my challenge is September 1st, I hope you will play along HERE!!!

I created another card for a card challenge, this one being to use at least one hexagon on your page:
removed for publication
Check out the challenges on the card forum HERE. Every Monday and Wednesday, new challenges are posted and participants have the opportunity to win $15 via paypal at the end the month.

The August kit is now available for purchase HERE:)

nook august kit

I have been playing with the August kit from My Scrapbook Nook, which is filled with a brand new manufacturer, Carta Bella. The line is called Beautiful Moments, and here is a look at the kit contents:
This is one of the lines that I think is lovely, but not a line I normally would buy. However, I am having a bit of fun pushing myself, and I like what I have created so far!

Here is a layout I have completed:
Everything here is from the kit except for the cardstock and the yellow letter stickers.

Some close ups:

I have also created 2 cards, but only one I can share today;)
I created this for the Card Color Challenge on the card forum. The little wood flag is from my stash, and everything else is from the kit;)

I should have some more projects done soon to share:) Today is A's orientation for first grade (tomorrow is the first day). She is soooooo nervous! I think she is just wondering who her teacher will be and which of her friends from kindergarten will be in her class. When I asked her why she was nervous, she said it was because you don't get many chances in first grade. Hee hee, I am pretty sure she will be just fine:)

I'll be back tomorrow with pictures of my little first grader:)

painting with kids

We have done a lot of painting this summer. A has really been into watercolor painting and I can't even tell you how many watercolor paintings she has done.
Thank to pinterest, I have found some really unique painting crafts that the kids have just loved...so I am sharing the links and what ours looked like:

Aislynn wanted me to draw the flowers, then she drew the unicorn and painted those 3. She drew Thomas the Tank Engine for Kieran to paint:)

This was one of our favorites, they turned out so cool!!!

This was super fun and the pictures turned out really cool too! It is hard to see the marbleized effect in the photo, but trust me, in real life it is there;) I let the kids pick 3 colors each and Kieran's are the top and Aislynn's are the bottom.

We tried the condensed milk painting, and it did look shiny and cool, but even after it dried, the paintings were very sticky. I had stacked them up to put in our drawer of finished projects and they all stuck together. When I tried to pull them apart, they ripped:(

The most recent painting craft we did was paint without paintbrushes. First we gathered up supplies:
I tried to find things they could paint/stamp with that had a handle, kinda, so that paint wouldn't get on their hands (then clothes and whatever else they touch!) as much. It seemed to work pretty good, the mess wasn't too bad:)

We chose, a small car, cotton swabs, a toothbrush, toilet paper roll, plastic pineapple, a pony comb, pencil, wine cork, play pizza cutter, lego, toy octopus, and something from the toy doctor kit.

Then the kids let loose dipping the things in paint and stamping them on paper:

The car was the favorite by both kids, but Kieran also liked the "brush teeth."
The finished products:
It looked like so much fun, I couldn't resist making one too. Mine is the top left. Kieran did the middle left and the bottom right and Aislynn did the other 3.

I think out of all the crafts we do, my kids always like the ones that involve paint the most...it's like I am giving the green light for them to get messy and they like that:)

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
