Happy New Year!!!

By now most of you who read my blog know that Aislynn broke her arm on Tuesday. I took her to the playground and she was climbing up the ladder to go down the slide, where she fell off of the top of the ladder. From the angle I was standing (towards the bottom of the slide), I didn't see how she fell. When I got to her, she was saying her arm hurt and when I felt it under her jacket, I could feel something bulging out, which I assumed was her bone. She couldn't lift her arm or move her fingers really, so I got her in the car and called Shaun and headed for the emergency room. I had just kinda shoved Kieran at Megan, and she got him in his car seat and got him in the car for me. At the ER, when we took off her jacket and shirt, the ER doctor said that by looking at her arm, he was like 90% sure it was broken. Poor honey, the bone didn't break through the skin, but there was a bulge out of her arm right under her elbow. They took x-rays and it was broken bad. They were going to have to do surgery to fix it because of where and how it was broken. We had to wait until after 7 (we got the the ER at about 3:30) because of when she had last eaten. About 6ish, we headed over to Pre-Op. We met the anesthesiologist, who was a weirdo, but oh well. We met the orthopedic surgeon, who was awesome! He explained the surgery to us and then they took her back. He didn't know if he was going to have to make an incision or not, and he did have to. When they brought her back, she was asleep, but they said everything went perfectly. We had to wait until she woke up, and then got her some juice and a Popsicle. Once it seemed like she could keep that down, they decided to go ahead and let her come home. We got home a little after 11. Right now she had a splint/wrap, so we will go back Tuesday and they will take the stitches out and then put on a hard cast. She will wear that for about 3-4 weeks and then we will go back and they will take the pins out. Then, depending on how her arm has healed , she may have to get another hard cast, it all just depends.

She was SO brave through out the whole ordeal, we were so proud of her! She got a little upset whenever they touched her arm and when they put the i.v. in. When we were driving to the ER, she told me she shouldn't play on playgrounds anymore:( We'll see how long that will last though, after a few days, and she is done hanging out of the couch:) Her pain has subsided a lot, she really hasn't complained about it too much, so we are thankful for that. She is a tough girlie:) I will keep everyone updated on how she is doing.

I totally meant to have a Happy New Year post done earlier in the week, but I got a little busy! I ended up taking approximately 4,182 pictures in 2009. These are my favorites (there are a lot-SORRY!!): I think this one is self-explanatory, what a beautiful girl she is:)

This is just sweet. This is the first time Aislynn wanted to hold Kieran after we got home. I think I had to bribe her with a sucker, actually:) She loved him fiercely since he was born, but she was kinda scared of him too:)

I really don't like this picture of me, but I picked this as one of my faves because it is one of the few we took at the hospital and it reminds me of the day Kieran was born. The crazy fast moment of it all and the feeling I had after he was born.

This isn't really a favorite picture, I just never posted it here because I went into labor a few hours later:) This was my last (38 week) belly picture.

So here is to a happy and healthy and prosperous 2010 for everyone! I am excited to see what this year has in store for us.

7 Months

"Kierbo" is 7 months today, eek! I can hardly believe it! Here are a few things about Kieran at 7 months:

• he has become quite the babbler. His vocabulary includes "da," "ma," "ba," "ga," "blah," and "mmm." he will go on and on mixing up these words or repeating the same one over and over. Today he kept saying "ma ma" over and over again and then when I repeated it back to him, he would squeal with delight:) Just about made my heart melt:)
• is eating 2 meals of solids a day, but not all that interested. He usually finishes his oatmeal in the morning, but at night (rice cereal with a veggie or fruit) he leaves some left in the bowl. He has tried carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, peaches, and bananas.
• Really is starting to loves to play. Toys with music, texture, or lights entertain him the most. Eventually though, he tries to eat any toy he was playing with:)
• His little sense of humor is budding...peek-a-boo is hilarious. Pretty much anything Aislynn does is really really funny to him. He just started doing this thing when he sees Shaun, but Shaun isn't looking at him and he makes little noises to get Shaun's attention. When Shaun finally looks, Kieran smiles SO big and gets really excited (you know how when babies get excited and they move their arms and legs and wiggle up and down-that is what he does!). He is also ticklish under his chin (just like sissy!) and under his thighs and his belly. LOVE LOVE LOVE his laugh:)
• Is on the verge of really becoming mobile, i.e. crawling. Right now he scoots, rolls, etc. to where he needs to be, but he has just recently started to get on his hands and knees, but then he doesn't know what to do next:)
• Just starting to get into his 6-9/6-12 month outfits
• Will turn over to his tummy sometimes at night. I still put him down on his back, but I love when he turns over because he sleeps a lot longer on his belly!!
• is starting to get to the stage (stranger anxiety) where he needs Mama, Dada, or sister in sight. If he doesn't see one of us, he starts crying...the little lip quiver cry (which is so pathetic and sweet looking:) ).

A Very Merry Christmas:)

We had a good Christmas here:) Kieran was sorta interested in what all was going on. He loved feeling the wrapping paper and bows:) His favorite present was a soft, plush ball that had little tags made of ribbon sticking out of it. It was so much fun with Aislynn this year. She was totally into it:) We baked cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve, read Twas the Night Before Christmas, we each opened a present, and we left Santa milk, cookies, carrots, and a note. When we came downstairs in the morning (around 7:30), Aislynn saw the empty plate and said "Holy Cow, He did come! She loved ALL of her presents, lol! Santa did bring her the Momma pony she wanted, as well as 101 Dalmatians. She also got some My Little Pony stuff and some games, and tons of other stuff. She is a lucky little girl:) Shaun's favorite present was a book Aislynn and I made him. My favorite present was a picture frame that Aislynn and Shaun painted and put pictures of our Disney trip in it. An early Merry Christmas...

We will be busy getting ready for Santa's arrival tomorrow night, so I wanted to go ahead and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and share a few pictures. I wanted to get some Christmas jammie pics, so here are some: Tuesday, Mimi and Papa came over and Aislynn got to open her gifts early. She got a digital camera, among other things, but that was her fave. This morning, when I went into her room, she was posing her toys and taking pictures of them:)

Kieran actually took a decent nap when they were there, so I don't have any pictures of him. Aislynn went and got the Santa hat and red necklace and put it on to be festive:)

Today we went to the playground and Aislynn wanted to wear the hat and necklace again. She said she was going to wear it through Christmas:)

So, again, everyone have a Merry Christmas!!! I will share some pictures in a few days!

Yay!

We went back to see the lactation consultant on Wednesday morning and Kieran had gained 7 oz in a week. She said that babies his age should gain between 4-7 oz per week. So it seems like my milk supply has been built back up with the help of the fenugreek herb and stopping weight watchers, yay!! We will go back January 13th to see how he is gaining. I am still doing my December Daily album, and for the 15th (Tuesday), I didn't get any pictures, but wanted to share a little about that day. Shaun got a Christmas card Monday from one of the sites he plays on and is a VIP, and it said to look for something between the 14th and the 18th. Well, on Monday, UPS came with a new chair for him! It is a really nice leather chair, not really high enough for the computer, but we have it in the living room and you can hook up the TV to it (it has speakers). We thought that was what the card was referring to, but on Tuesday we got sent a HUGE basket full of all kinds of goodies. It was actually really funny because literally 5 minutes before it arrived, we were talking about how we need to eat better, and then this basket full of treats arrived. Anyways, I thought that was really cool they sent him that stuff! Aislynn had her last ballet class on Tuesday for a few weeks (they take off for winter break), and at the end of class they had a little holiday party. There were cookies and they got extra special stickers (not just boring old stars!) this time:) After dinner, Aislynn was still in her ballet leotard and she wanted to dance to Christmas music, so we put some on and her and I danced around:) It was fun, even if I had to be the prince, ha! I wanted to get a few pictures of the kids, and since it was FINALLY sunny, we headed over to the field where we play soccer and I got these. Aislynn was actually more cooperative than Kieran when I took these!

I think it is nearly an impossible task to get BOTH kids looking and smiling at the camera in the same picture, lol! But I still love these...I love how it looks like she is showing him something!!!

The above one would have been perfect had their eyes been open. Oh well, I still love it! Kieran is so over it:) Today we made gingerbread houses, but out of graham crackers. I didn't want to do a gingerbread house kit because they taste like cardboard, so we made them out of graham crackers. As you can see, the decorations kept sliding off. Oh well. The whole point to Aislynn was to eat them, so as soon as I got these shots, she dug into one of them. She had one wall left and said her tummy hurt. I just decided to let her eat as much as she wanted to so she could see for herself why we limit her! She kept telling us she ate too much sugar! She ate tons of candy during the decorating process too, so she definitely did eat too much sugar!

They have a Christmas Curious George and a Christmas Olivia movie playing at the theater this weekend, so I plan to take Aislynn to that. Then we need to finish up our Christmas shopping! I can't believe how fast December has gone by...or whole fast the whole year has gone by!
